A Blissful Weekend

My weekend was full of art, shopping, and love. Friday, R had a guest artist at her school...a sidewalk artist (like Bert in Mary Poppins). The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders were invited to meet with her and paint their own 40" square masterpiece. Isn't that fun? R was so excited (being that her Mimi and uncle are artist - she wants to be one too)! I met her after school to see her work of art...it was awesome!
Saturday, Mr. C took little C with him. They had great adventures...garbage trucks, fork lifts, trains...and much more! R and I had GRAND plans. We were heading to downtown Mesa to the street fair (proceeds going to NieNie). I knew it was going to be good...but, it exceeded my expectations! It was great! We shopped and shopped. I found this darling apron from paddywacksstudio.com and lots of fun things...from big, blingy rings to vintage purses...it was so much fun! R loved the carnival. It was a good, old fashioned street carnival (with the carnival games we used to play). All proceeds from the carnival went to the Nielson's Recovery Fund. And, although I do not personally know Stephanie, I think she would have been proud. Everything was darling...right up her ally! We finished the day (the four of us together) with some yummy burgers from a local joint.
Sunday, the kids I went to church. Since we have been in Greer so much, I have not been in a while. It was soooo good to be there. I'm not a super religious person. However, I feel it is in important for my children to learn the stories of the bible...and learn to be quiet and sit still...and to be around a variety of people. Plus, I thoroughly enjoy the hour to myself. I love listening to the pastor...listening to the beautiful music. We attend an older church down by ASU. I found it when C was a baby. In fact, C was baby Jesus that year in the Christmas Pageant...I was Mary...and...are you ready...Mr. C was Joseph! (Those of you who know Mr. C - know how interesting that is!) Anyway, I fell in love with the people, the building and the pastor. He has the most genuine, kindest soul...My heart is always so happy and warm by the time the hour is over...and my kids have smiles on their faces. It's all worth it.
Mr. C usually passes the offer to go with us (and that's OK - it's a very personal choice). He typically relishes in the fact that he has at least two hours all to himself. This particular Sunday, he completed a home project he's been working on. The wonderful man is building me a garden! It took a little while..but, it's almost done. We just need to fill it...with rich soil and compost...and lovely veggies...I can't wait! Every square inch of our back yard - is officially in use. But, maybe...just maybe...there's room for some chickens!
It was a great weekend. A happy weekend. Hope yours was too...
