Home Again, Home Again...Jiggity Jig!

We made the four hour trek back to the city last night. Since I had stayed the whole week and Mr. C went back and forth - we had two cars up there. Therefore, we had to travel home in separate vehicles...and somehow...I got to drive the four hours with the dog and kids! Hhmmm....
Although it's nice to be back in the city...I woke up missing my mountain days! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it up there! Some people get bored, or miss certain "metro" things...not me! I love the simplicity, the beauty, and my kids' dirty faces. I love the million star sky, the sound of the river, the way the Aspen leaves dance around when the wind blows...I love watching the deer as they graze the forest floor...and they stop and stare at us...as if they are saying, "welcome to our home, how long are you staying?" I love seeing the brilliant blue of a Blue Jay fly across our path. I love the smell of pine...and chimneys...real wood burning chimneys. I love how EVERYONE waves as you drive or walk by...whether you know them or not. I love taking C and R on hikes...exploring new paths...playing like Mother Nature (like my mom and aunt used to do with me, my brothers and cousins).
When I'm up there, I have no headaches or stress (although, when I mentioned this to Mr. C he seemed a little surprised..."what do you have to be stressed about?") Frankly, I don't know...but, I sure get tight in my shoulders and back and it disappears when I'm at 9000 feet. Bottom line...in case you missed my point...I thoroughly adore my mountain life!
Being up there makes me want to throw caution to the wind! Live life on the edge! Move up there...throw away my gym membership, forget about my twice a month brow waxes, and home school my children (an idea R is very fond of)! The only thing holding me back...will the fellas at the general store appreciate my Manolos?!

oh that brings back such great memories of "mother nature" hikes when we were young! I recently took my kids to the bear caves and slide rock and somehow over the years they seem to have shrunk! :) We need to get together sometime.....
