Just Another Beautiful Day

I have been a little lapse in my blogging. There is just not much to report on. And, as I have mentioned before, spring time makes me throw all obligations and responsibilities out the sun-filled window. But, as always, there are a few things on my mind...
  • I have been eating (almost) no meat...and I feel great. I still prepare healthy meats for my family..but, I load my plate with veggies, etc.
  • I cannot get enough risotto. Mushroom risotto, risotto with asparagus, risotto with a veggie medley or shrimp, prepared with broth, prepared with wine, etc., etc. Mmmmm.....
  • Speaking of food...nutrition...what goes in my body. I have added flax seed and pro-biotics to my diet. And, I did it because of Cade. Last summer, he was put on Miralax (by his surgeon). He had some gastro problems (a long story for another time...I still need to document his story), and they suggested he take Miralax every day. I hated the thought of putting this in his system, but - even worse - was watching him go through pain. I did what I was told...but, finally got it down to just every other night. After doing some research, I realized that if he fills his little system with good bacteria (pro-biotics) and proper, natural fibers...he may no longer need medicine. So, I've added it to his diet, along with mine. (I'm going to start sneaking flax seed into everyone's diet.) And, I'm happy to report that we are both feeling good and healthy. He's doing awesome...knock on wood.
  • I've been rollerblading again. I have always loved my rollerblades...but, they got stashed away and forgotten about. I load Cade in the stroller and off we go. This morning, I bladed to my brow wax appointment...a couple of miles away. The sun was shining, perfect weather and...we saw three garbage trucks along the way! He loves our little adventures.
  • I just finished a great book called, What I Did for Love. It was non-thinking...a beach read...brain candy...and I loved it.
  • I love these hats.
  • I cannot wait for school to be out. Three weeks and three days to go....
  • I have decided to do another craft show in June. Which means...I must get sewing, canning, baking...
  • My garden is flourishing. I have little tomatoes, jalapenos, peppers....squash and eggplant blossoms are taking over and my herbs are cut and used daily.
  • Cade and Mr. C found a little caterpillar in the garden. We made a little home for it - in a jar. And now we have a cocooned bug. We are all wondering what it will be...
  • Randi and I are having a little mother/daughter get-away this weekend. We are getting very excited. I'm sure I will have lots of pictures and stories to share...

Hope you are enjoying your beautiful spring too...

I use flax seed in everything! Nobody even notices! If feels great when you know you're filling your kids with goodness! BTW, I'm so jealous of your garden! I had big plans for that this year but it never materialized......:(
