power of love

"when the power of love overcomes the love of power - the world will know peace." - jimi hendrix

another tragedy struck our country yesterday. a gunman killed 49 people and injured 53 at a nightclub in orlando. it happened to be at a gay nightclub. it was an attack on the LGBT+ community. but, more than that, it was an unnecessary attack. the gunman killed innocent people with guns that no one should be able to own. nobody needs semiautomatic weapons. nobody.

the gunman was muslim and of middle eastern descent. and, although mr. trump put out at tweet saying, "i called it. there should be a ban", the man was american born. {sorry mr. trump, you could not have banned him. unless, of course, you would like to be even more like hitler}.

he was a man who hated homosexuals. was he a terrorist? i don't know. i know being muslim is not what made him evil. just like all christians aren't evil, even though a psychotic, god fearing christian walked into a church or abortion clinic and killed innocent people.

to say, "things need to change" is a broken record. yesterday was the 16th time in his presidency that president obama had to speak at a press conference after a mass shooting. 16th. something is definitely broken...not just the record.

my heart is sad thinking of all those people who are searching for or have lost a loved one.
my heart is heavy knowing there are politicians out there who are using this to gain power and instill even more fear into the american people. donald trump is an evil man and he is creating even more division and hate with each word he speaks.
my heart is angry. we must unite. accept all human beings. put the ban on guns. help those who need help. we need to come together to fight the evil of the world. understand that there are all kinds of people in this world, and we need to accept and love the goodness in all of them.  we need the power of love.
