Peculiar Halloween

it was an odd halloween this year. we didn't carve pumpkins. i didn't dress up.
it was almost 100 degrees.
and, for the first time in 15 years...i didn't trick or treat with kids.

the month was busy. mr. c and i were out of town, randi is all over the place and cade left halloween morning for 6th grade camp. i have a feeling this is how things are going to be from now on...and, i'm not sure how i feel about it!

randi had a cute halloween slumber party friday night where they played games and watched scary movies. i believe there were 10 girls sleeping wall to wall in our living room!! she is quite the party planner and the party was a great success!

the night before halloween, mr. c made dinner and the kids and i cuddled up and watched hocus pocus and the conjuring 2. {mustering up some spooky halloween spirt}!

halloween night, mr. c, randi and i handed out candy and watched scary movies. the highlight of the evening, however, was a visit from harry potter. his awesome dad {my brother} made his costume...right down to the light up wand! he was the cutest!

lights were off by 8:15. a monday night brought fewer trick or treaters.
see? the whole halloween season was just...weird.

but, the oddest, weirdest, strangest thing of the season is not having this boy home. {he's in the dodger blue}. i know he is having fun and it is so good for him but....I MISS HIM. i can't even talk to him.  {phones were collected when they arrived}.
he's never stayed away before {at a camp} and he has only had a couple of sleepovers. i'm not use to him being gone.  it's good...but, an adjustment!!
so, needless to say, he will be smothered in hugs and kisses when i see him tomorrow!
{thanks to a parent chaperone for sending this picture}!

here's to next halloween...where i will dress up, we will carve pumpkins, and {maybe} everyone will be home!!
