Christmas in San Francisco

we arrived in the beautiful city by the bay on sunday, december 22nd.
since we stayed right on the square at the sir francis drake...we had all the shopping, trees, lights, music, and crazy people right outside our door.

{tree in union square...first night}

cannery row.
i love the old buildings...

on our first night - we dined down on the wharf at of our favorites.
{fabulous sour dough, chowder, and sour dough pizza.}

the old city lights bookstore was one of my favorite {of many} stops.
had a similar vibe to changing hands bookstore {one of my favorite places}...
pretty sure randi could have stayed there all day.

it is located in north beach/little italy...probably my favorite area.

this darling girl is my city girl.  she did not want to leave...she loves it.
the people, the smells, the sights, the sounds...she appreciates all of it!

mr. c captured a very wind blown look as we crossed the golden gate bridge.
{we were headed to sausalito.}

we never stopped.
we saw so much of the city.
each time i go - i learn something new and fall more in love.

the square was beautiful for the holidays.  macy's had wreaths in every window. nieman marcus had the most magnificent tree.  and there was an ice rink right in the middle.

many of the boats on the wharf were all lit up and laced with twinkling lights...
as were most of the trolleys.

on the day we traveled to sausalito...we had a late lunch at one of our favorites...solitos.  it is right on the water...wonderful bread and crab chowder.

after a dinner of amazing chinese food...we walked the square on christmas eve.
{we had chinese hoping for a rendition of deck the in christmas story.}

christmas morning, we donned a pair of skates and hit the ice.
{cade wasn't too sure at first but, he was a pro in no time!}

both of the kids did awesome!
by the time we finished they wanted to go again later in the day.

christmas evening we had dinner at a place called matso's.
{never been. recommended by concierge.}
it was nice...good food and great company.

in china town, the kids got their wishes from zoltar.
{thank goodness neither of them turned in to an adult over night!}

love this picture...

it was a true christmas to remember.
we made so many memories.
laughed. smiled. loved.

drawing names each morning and buying a small gift for that person.
on our last day - we drew 5 cards through the day and played poker that night. {i won.}
seeing all of the homeless people {40,000 within the city} was not necessarily a highlight...but, watching my kids want to give them money and food was.
watching my kids laugh with mimi and papa.
holding mr. c's hand as we strolled the sidewalks.
eating thai food at noodle king.
eating macaroons in macy's overlooking the square.
the hop on/hop off bus.
the market at the embarcadero.
cade's expressions as we walked around china town.
shopping with randi at brandy melville and trying to get back to the hotel.
{she is not one for adventures!}
being together and giving my kids the gifts of memories.
