May 2015

mother's day weekend brought the three of us on a road trip.
{a very long road trip}!
i was running the santa barbara county half marathon and they came to cheer me on!
what we thought would be quick 5 hour drive was a long 8 hour drive!
but, what beautiful country!
fresh strawberry stands, rolling hills, and the ocean peaking over the hills...
we stayed in los alamos. a quaint town with a fabulous bakery called Bob's Well Bread.
{bob introduced us to kouign-amanns...a lovely french pastry}.
the cool, rustic inn where we stayed was...horrible!
they had a live band the night before my race and the 100 year old walls and doors did not keep the sound out.  therefore, i had a couple of hours of sleep the night before i ran 13.1 miles.
{hence the tears i felt as i crossed the finish line}.
however, they refunded our last night and we hit the road.  we stopped in santa barbara to have lunch and see the town and then headed to palm springs...where i hit the pillow and was asleep in 1.3 seconds.
{side note: although i had little sleep and ran in bad shoes...i qualified and was invited to run in the san diego half in november}!

we drove home on mother's day.
mr. c sent this picture as my wake up call and cade later sent a video. :)

it was fun.
i loved being with my two of my favorite people.
{but, i think an airplane may be in the picture next time}!

we had an amazing spring in az.
{actually, may and june were fabulous!  but, july and august has made up for it}.
the lovely weather brought us out to the zoo.

and, by the end of may/first of june we were celebrating randi turning 15!!!
and emerson turning 7!!!
{how is that even possible}?

instead of a party, randi wanted to go to high tea.
so, mimi and i took her and her friend, sarah to the ritz carlton for
a lovely afternoon tea.
{the beautiful, historic ritz closed shortly after}.

and...may brought baseball.
{actually, this was the first part of june.  i know this because cade was not feeling well and he ended up having strep throat.  none of us have ever had strep.  i did not think that is what he had!  however, after three days of fever...i decided to take him to the dr.
{i know. mother of year, right?}
and low and behold. strep!
