summer is finally here. time has slowed down. there are few responsibilities and the daily schedule is minimal. and, all of this means...i can finally finish my book! looking for a good summer read? here are some of my favorites... the kitchen house by kathleen grissom {historical fiction. don't give up after the first chapter...it gets better and better}! snowflower and the secret fan by lisa see {incredibly interesting and heart wrenching} the storyteller by jodi picoult {she never disappoints} {baking and WWII era...two of my favorite things} gone girl by jillian flynn {if you haven't seen the movie and have been wondering what all the hype was about...read it}! room by emma donoghue {oh, this book! at one point, i had to put it down because my heart was beating so hard}! the namesake by jhumpa lahiri {beautiful. heart felt. lovely} to kill a mockingbird by harper lee {if you have not read this since high school...read it! i re-read it last year and loved it even more}! tell the wolves i'm home by carol rifle brunt {this is my current read. so far, so good}! young reads: if you are looking for something for your tween: wonder by r. j. palacio {cade and i read this last year. it is fabulous! but, grab your tissues}! and, of course... harry potter by jk rowling {randi has read them all several times. cade and i are on book 4}. happy reading! |
