Best acceptance speech of the night goes to Viola Davis. This was also a much deserved award for her role in Fences. When she goes off on Troy {Denzel Washington}, I had goosebumps and tears. Amazing.
Dev Patel was nominated for best supporting actor for his role in Lion. I would have given it to him {because I love him}. Mahershala Ali took the deserving win for his role in Moonlight.
BUT. This adorable actor, Sunny Pawar, stole my heart in Lion.
Emma Stone. Oh, Emma Stone. Could I love her anymore? She won best actress AND wore a Planned Parenthood pin on her gorgeous gown. Boom.
I'm adding this picture just because...I love this movie AND dreamy Ryan Gosling. I want to live in this movie, carry tap shoes in my bag, and bust out in song and dance when the mood strikes.
Best actor was given to Casey Affleck for his role in Manchester by the Sea. Now, I haven't seen this movie yet. I am looking forward to seeing it, however, he should not have received the award. He has current sexual harassment charges against him. He was up against the great Denzel Washington, the talented Ryan Gosling, the darling Andrew Garfield, and Viggo Mortensen. And yet, they gave it to him. Shame on the Academy but kudos to Brie Larson for not applauding.
The gowns. The beautiful gowns. Salma Hayek and Halle Berry were my favorites of the night. They both looked amazing...ageless beauties.
The laughs, the tears, the gowns, the jewels, the hair...all made for a great show.
